South Mountain's 16,000 acres are a beautiful backdrop for a picnic, barbecue or gathering accessible from the entrance on Central Avenue. Some areas are first-come, first-serve while others require reservations to be made in person. For more info, call 602.534.6324 or 602.534.6328 (TTY).
Activity Complex: $20 per hour with a four-hour minimum reservation. Accommodates up to 5,000 people with restrooms, dance platform and kitchen. Alcohol permit for beer only is required. Reservations are required for this area and must be made in person.
Las Lomitas: An H-shaped ramada with 12 tables, restrooms and a dance platform that accommodates 200 people. Alcohol and music permits are available. Reservable
Big/Little Ramadas: A U-shaped ramada with eight tables that accommodates 150 people and a double ramada that accommodates 80 people. The ramadas are on a gentle rise that offers seping views of the Phoenix skyline. Both areas have a dance platform and a restroom. Alcohol and music permits are available. Reservable
Piedra Grandes Ramadas: Ramadas in this area are available only on a first-come, first-served basis. Ramadas 1-9 accommodate smaller groups of 25 with four ramadas accommodating 50 people. Area includes a restroom. No alcohol permits or amplified or live music is allowed in these areas, and vehicles are not permitted in the picnic dirt area. Users also can choose from among small, family-sized shelters in this area.

In southwest Phoenix, at southwest corner of 35th Avenue and Baseline Road, Cesar Chavez Park is 25 acres of lighted basketball, boat ramp, fishing, lake, picnic area, playground, racquetball, ramadas,restrooms, lighted softball, tennis, lighted baseball field, lighted multi-purpose field, and soccer fields.
Enjoy Arizona'a largest designated Urban fishing lake. It's 10 degrees cooler! Boating is permitted between sunrise and sunset for canoes, rowboats and sailboats (no rafts or motors allowed) with proper floatation devices on board. Although fishing from a boats is prohibited, anglers can bag up to 4 catfish, 4 trout, 2 bass (13" min), 10 sunfish, white amur (30" min). No limit on yellow bass, tilapia or carp. An Urban Fishing License is required. Swimming or wading is prohibited. Glass containers are prohibited. Alcoholic beverage permits required.
